Setting the proxy server for Internet Explorer 5 and 6
|
Run Internet Explorer, and select the Tools menu, Internet Options menu item, and then the Connections
tab in the dialog box that appears.
The next step depends on the kind of network connection you have: If you are using a LAN
(direct network connection), press the LAN Settings button. If you are using a modem (dial-up network
connection), select the name of the dial-up connection you are using, and press the Settings button.
Now, in the dialog box that appears, check the box next to the text Use a proxy server.
Press the Advanced button. On the HTTP line, enter the proxy server address localhost (one word, no spaces) and the port
number 4128.
Important: Make sure that this is set only for HTTP protocol
and do not change settings for HTTPS, FTP, Gopher and Socks protocols.
